Ten hours with one companion, priced at £1,800, is what an overnight means here. The usual start falls somewhere from eight to ten at night, and the finish comes after breakfast. The hours are counted from the moment she arrives, and what fills them is entirely up to the two of you: dinner or no dinner, a bar or a quiet night in, a late film or an early one.

One way the night can run
Ten o'clock: she arrives at The Langham and you begin with a drink downstairs at Artesian, then a late supper at The Wigmore next door, or sent up if the day has been long. Past midnight the evening slows right down, and the rest of the night is simply quiet company. Around seven, the curtains open over Portland Place and the two of you walk a few minutes to Fischer's on Marylebone High Street for eggs and strong coffee. She leaves as the ten hours close.
Rooms that make ten hours easy
A long booking rewards a comfortable room. The suites at The Langham, near Great Portland Street, look down Regent Street and are about as central as W1 gets. Chiltern Firehouse keeps only a couple of dozen rooms in its old fire station and turns very quiet once the restaurant closes. Dorset Square Hotel, by Baker Street, feels like a private house on a garden square, and Durrants on George Street has porters who remember names; our Durrants notes explain the appeal. Book the day before
Because a night fills her entire evening and the following morning, writing a day early opens up the most names. Same day overnights happen too, particularly if you write by mid-afternoon, and Clementine will say plainly who is free. Weekend nights disappear quickly in December, when the lights are up over the street and every hotel on it is full.
The names who take overnights
Milena lists dinner and overnight as her preferred bookings and decides in minutes, which makes her the easiest answer to a late plan. Molly starts at ten and is glad for the evening to run late and then very gently into morning. Michelle is free most nights and, by breakfast, will know how you take your coffee. Before and after the ten hours
The check is the same as for a single hour: your name as the hotel holds it and the room number, sent in the chat. The fee goes straight to her when she walks in. If you have an early train or a seven o'clock meeting, say so when booking and the ten hours are set to end in good time. If you would like the next day to carry on, a shopping afternoon can follow, subject to her diary.
The morning, unhurried
Mornings in Marylebone are gentle. The High Street wakes slowly, the coffee on Chiltern Street is excellent, and the park is ten minutes' walk to the north. If checkout is at noon and you would like company beyond breakfast, ask before the ten hours finish; any extra time is agreed in the chat and depends only on whether her day is free.
Private homes, and more than one night
An overnight at a private address by Regent's Park or in a Marylebone mansion flat works in exactly the same way, with the street and door number in place of a room.
