Around Town is the street map of this site. The line below runs along Oxford Street itself, arch to Centre Point; the districts beneath it sit a short walk off, most within ten minutes of a Central line stop. Every district page does three jobs: it names hotels, times the walk from the platforms and shows who lives closest.

Along the pavement, west to east
Marble Arch holds the western end, where the big hotels face Hyde Park. Bond Street is the stretch for the grand old hotels a few turns south. Oxford Circus is the crossroads with Regent Street, and Tottenham Court Road closes the eastern end, where Soho, Fitzrovia and Bloomsbury meet. The Oxford Street page covers the full mile.
One block north, a slower pace
Marylebone is the village behind the department stores: a high street of small shop fronts, candlelit dining rooms and townhouse hotels. Baker Street sits at its northern edge, a station served by five lines. Great Portland Street runs between the park and the Circus, and Regent's Park brings the Nash terraces and some of the calmest rooms on the map. East of Portland Place, Fitzrovia keeps its tables busy on Charlotte Street well past eleven.

Book anyway. Mayfair, Soho, Paddington and the City all sit a short ride from the street, and nothing is charged for reaching a door anywhere in Zones 1 and 2.
